Module Introduction: In the previous modules, we have delved into a deep understanding of the components of a university research ecosystem and used this information to make a diagnosis of research leadership gaps and challenges in our own institutions. We also examined what would constitute an ideal research ecosystem, the elements of which guided us in identifying actions that are needed to improve research leadership in our own institutions. In the fourth module of this course, we wrap up with four sessions that dive deeper into how we can take our university research ecosystems to another level. This involves a discussion on how built a robust innovation ecosystem alongside the research ecosystem and the processed involved in building and taking advantage of local and regional research networks to grow the research and innovation ecosystem even more. It should be noted that growing R&I ecosystems often times involves change and change does not come easy. Research leaders therefore need the skills and tools to manage the change in a way that leads to substantial and inclusive growth.
