I enjoyed diagnosing the relevance of our institution to the nearby stakeholders and I understood that although there are initiates we started, we have a long to go in meeting the aspirations of the stakeholders.
This is so important to know and I have enjoyed it. Often times we find a disconnect between university research and development priorities. LMIC universities have inadequate grants writing capacity. The recommendations from research should be clear and actionable rather than abstract.
Very informative to note that alot of transformative research information lies on the university shelves rather than translating them into business enterprises.
I have learnt and also affirmed my fears why users of research fail or ignore research from academia. They are often too quick and are not patient with time taken by research. Therefere, a gap or separation begins to grow and widen; yet the two stakeholders need partnership.
Secondly, the users of research are not well mobilised.
