Title of Project: Decentralized water resource circulation as a sustainable solution for plantation
Sector: Water pollution
Country: Vietnam
Lead Institution: Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Co-PI Institution: Hanoi University of Science and Technology
Partner(s): VIEBA, PANDORA, VIETXANH CON-TECH., JSC, AVIPRO JSC., CECR
Final Budget: $171,957.00
Project Length: 2 year
Research Objective:
Determine the possibility of municipal wastewater recycling to develop appropriate on-site plant systems, minimize domestic wastewater emissions into the environment, and repurpose waste nutrients.
Project Description:
The project aims to develop practices that promote Decentralized water circulation to reuse water and nutrients in domestic wastewater to support greenifying local areas without excessively exploiting the local natural resource. Effective measures and practices can conceivably change local water usage in different communities.
The translation partners in this project, VIETXANH, and AVIPRO, have a multifunction facility, equipment, and technician ready for the LASER PULSE funded project in terms of R&D, manufacture, test, and deploy the water circulation system as the outcome of the project. Two other translation partners, the Vietba garment company with 120 women workers and the Pandora Education Park will host the water circulation system. Two complete systems will be designed, fabricated, and run at the hosts’ premises to prove the concept of cost-effective, flexible treatment configurations with innovative technologies to reclaim water to reuse water and nutrients in domestic wastewater to a flora system for greenery in the campus and developing a learning section. Based on the research results, the project team will perform propagation campaigns through public media, scientific publications, and policy communication about the concept of decentralized water resource circulation.
