I have learned well that scanning and design strategies on how to establish and strengthen the elements of the University Research Ecosystem are critically important for HEIs visibility to relevant stakeholders.
The interventions to address research ecosystem challenges in LMIC HEIs are indeed befitting solution. Being true and committed to this interventions is the way to go. I am going to do my best because examining the ingredients of a well-functioning leadership ecosystem guided by the these nine core ecosystem components on identifying and prioritizing which actions need to be done in our own organization is just right. I have enjoyed the session.
In this module, I learned about the basic elements of a successful university research ecosystem by reviewing my university’s status against each element through the reflection questions.
HEIs need to strategically have designated office with someone charged with this responsibility of scanning and planning for effective use of the research ecosystem for the better future
This has been a great unit – Research Administration and financial management system building is the missing and highly important component of the Research Eco System in LMISs Universities
HEIs/Universities in LMICs should also add Capstone Projects to their curriculums:
A capstone project has become an integral part of the university degree curriculum.
capstone project is designed to consolidate final-year students’ learning with valuable hands-on experience to help develop them into well-prepared and well-rounded graduates.
Higher Learning Institutions need open-minded people who are critically able to explore potential challenges into solutions. Consider an example, during the outbreak of COVID-19 we witnessed sudden closure of HEIs due to lack of appropriate digital solutions to run online courses
I have liked the 9 features of an active research ecosystem. I can identify some features already available in my University and some missing or unknown to me. That means I have to find out what for instance my School of research and post-graduate studies has to offer in terms of MOUs (Memorandum of association) on which to build partnerships and collaborations. I think there is work in progress in the LMICs for the HEIs.
