Who will be in charge at each stage?
How can our different strengths be used complement each other
2. By drawing on each other’s strengths and areas of expertise
1. In which country/areas are we going to conduct the project?
The project will take place in Barbados. Both the PI and the Translation Partner will oversee the operation of the project from both an academic researcher lens, as well as, through the practitioner lens.
Who will be in charge at each stage?
The PI will be in charge at each stage.
How can our different strengths be used complement each other
From the academic research lens, the researcher provides evidence-based recommendation and leadership to maximize dissemination of content material and report out on all requested deliverables. Whereas, the translation partner (TP) works directly with the academic research with use of the ERT model to ensure deep collaboration from the projects inception to completion drawing on each others expertise, especially capacity building and network opportunities with the TP’s to foster collaboration with the University of the West Indies (HEI) and the Barbados Government.
2. By drawing on each other’s strengths and areas of expertise
1. Brainstorm on the gaps, existing problems to solve, what is our capacity to solve the problems, availability of resources and funding, how the project will be implemented.
1. Identifying what networks and bandwidth are available to each member of the team – the NGO may be more interested in finding research participants while those working for the research institution may have more skills and experience working on data analysis. Essentially, identifying everyone’s strengths and playing to them.
2. Listing out the strengths of each partner and assigning responsibilities accordingly
moving from relationship to collaboration will involve how leadership and management of the project shall be, how will data be managed, how long will the project be implemented and how all issues of intellectual property will be handled.
Determine what is the complementarity between the partnering organizations and establish a division of labor which will permit accountability from each partner to perform as expected.
Prepare a work plan and set targets and a course of action to meet them.
1.{ a}what are the timelines?
{b} Who will be in charge at each stage of the process?
{c} How will success be measured ?
2. Since the NGO have experience in stakeholder identification and data collection and field testing that role will be signed them.Role must be signed based on each others strength and weakness.
{b}The research is being conducted in a conflict area which is quite different from a peaceful country .this means that the rate of success must be clearly stated .
1. The study area within the country you have decided to conduct the research. What might the cost centers be. Project implementation timelines. Areas of expertise each partner brings on board. Drawing a responsibility sheet that specifically assigns roles for each partner.
2. key to answering the above questions is strong engagement/consultation between the partners. Responsibilities assigned be based on strengths and weaknesses of partners. Timelines be set based on schedules of partners.
1.Question- What is the project time ?
Answer- This should be established at the beginning of the project to prevent a clash in the project timeline and academic activities
2. Question- How do we determine the project working process?
Answer- There is a need delegate duties accordingly to prevent role imbalance, individual responsible for each roles should be identified and activities that will be carried out by individual partners should be identified and those that will be conducted together should be documented, data ownership and use should be agreed on through intellectual sharing property. Priorities should be similar during this process.
3. Question What is the cost associated with the project
Answer-Budget management should be implemented to identify cost associated with each steps along the project
it is important to keep communication open during this process
1. Do we have the strength to work on this area?
How can we work together with synergy?
2. Find the appropriate person and look into their capabilities to work on this project.
Identify the role and responsibility of individuals from two institutions.
1. In which area or country is the project going to be implemented? What are the cultural values of the area identified? What is the socio-economic background of the people? Who are the leaders of the communities and are they interested in the project?
2. One needs to do a desk work first to find out the most suitable country/area for the implementing the project. Afterwards, you need do a needs assessment in the area and find out more about their needs and then move on the engage key/influential leaders of the area to get their support and buy-ins.
Questions: Do we have all the required expertise to carry out the research? If no, who else can we bring onboard to provide the lacked expertise?
Answer: Hold discussions and assess each other’s capacities and together identify areas for which external expertise will be needed and where it can be sourced from.
During the preparation of research project we have to clear the role and associated cost and activities the partners have to bear later during the implementation of the project activities.
Questions:
1. The timelines and responsibilities
2. what are the output to determine success ?
Solutions:
1. Work plan and activities should be clearly defined and adhered to.
2. hold regular discussion and review meeting to determine progress.
Who should be our target beneficiary an?
How will the intervention be delivered and with what timelines?
What country or research ethical considerations should we adhere to?
You could have a reflection on the past project executed with the proposed partner how successful and lessons learnt based on this discussions may be initiated on how, and the roles as well as responsibilities each of the partner is to under take on the project
The questions are :
1. Are we researchers of like mind with required skills to deliver the mandate of the research project?
2. What are the appropriate strategies to adopt and activities to carry to achieve the goals?
Answers:
1. We need to evaluate to be sure that each team member agree to participate and has required skills to deliver
2. Agree on strategies, determining the activities and assign to each collaborator with timeline.
Questions:
1. What resources can both parties share?
2. How the resource can be shared, what are the terms and condition?
3. How resources can be secured to share?
1. Who will be responsible for which part of the project and why
2. How will the reporting be done to ensure reports get to donors on time
Solution
Both parties will have their competitive advantage; e.g. NGOs are known to be on the ground etc so careful planning has to be done to ensure that the strengths of each partner are harnessed and weakness minimized in implementation.
The researcher will be assigned to producing final report so constant reminders to NGO will have to be sent and the format of the report will also be shared so that report when submitted will be in the required format for donor and editing will be minimal
1. One need to know or be particular about the study area as its present’s different contexts. that needs to be addressed.
2. The project time and deliverables need to be clear from the beginning.
1. What is the most commonly grown vegetable by females in our country, what challenges do these females face?
Who will be responsible for what activity and what are the deadlines?
2. List all major vegetables and chose
List all the challenges and choose one to focus on
Allocate tasks based on expertise
Two key questions would be
1) What value-addition will the other party bring into the partnership
2) What will be their role in the partnership
How I will go into answering these questions include;
1) Assessing the gaps on my side that the partnership should help fill
2) Identifying multi-sectoral partnerships that come with unique skills and qualities
Questions
What will be the roles of each organization
How will the costs be met
Answers
The two organizations can consider all the activities and share out as per the capabilities
The organizations can agree on joint funding of the activities
Two Key questions
1. What will be the criteria for the selection of the learners
2. How will the learners be motivated to participate throughout the project
Answers
1. Select a specific age group preferably 6-8 years
2. Budget for a meal plan for the entire duration of the project
1. What is the timeline of the project? How will the budget be managed and who are responsible? What are responsibilities of different partners in the project?
2. Establishing a timeline early on, and appointing different roles and responsibilities of every partner in the project, and planning on budget management and who’s responsible.
Who are trainees? YOU MAY FIRST KNOW OR SPECIFY THE KIND OF PEOPLE WHOM YOU ARE GOING TO BE WITH IN TERMS OF AGE,SEX,…
what are my goals?ONCE YOU KNOW YOUR GOALS, YOU MAY TRY ALL POSSIBLE MEANS TO CREATE A GOOD RELATION SHIP TO ACHIEVE THEM PROPERLY.
which strategies to use to create a strong partnership?JUST BRAIN STORM ON DIFFERENT STRATEGIES TO USE.
